Shungite is popular for neutralising the negative effects of electromagnetic (EMF) radiation, and to absorb negative energy from people or spaces. It is also powerful chakra balancer.

APPEARANCE & ORIGIN

Shungite stones can be divided into three types categorised based on the amount of carbon they contain.

Type I Shungite is called noble or elite Shungite

• Elite shungite has a shiny silvery surface and contains from 90 to 98 per cent of carbon.
• Deposits are extremely scarce amounting to less than one percent of all shungite found. It is usually mined by hand. 
• Elite Shungite has great energetic potential due to the high percentage of carbon.

Type II Shungite is known as Petrovsky Shungite

• This type of shungite is also quite rare and contains about 75 percent of carbon. 
• It can also be easily cut and polished like regular shungite, but in terms of properties and crystal energy Petrovsky shungite is closer to type I elite shungite.

Type III Shungite is usually called regular Shungite

• Regular Shungite contains from 30 to 50 per cent of carbon.
• It is more readily available and is used in water purification.
• It is easily shaped and polished and made into shaped products like spheres, pyramids, pendants, beads, etc.

Note, Elite Shungite deposits are extremely scarce, while type II is quite rare and type III Shungite is more readily available.

Mohs Hardness Scale: 3.5 - 4, can easily be scratched with items such as a coin or by other hard gems.

1. CHOOSE your Shungite - if you're drawn to a particular piece, that may be the one you should work with.

2. CLEANSE your Shungite - before use it's important to cleanse it to remove any negative or stagnant energy it may have picked up.

4.  MEDITATE with your Shungite

• Sit in a quiet place with your Blue Lace Agate in your hand. Close your eyes and focus on your breath. As you breathe in, imagine the healing energy of the Blue Lace Agate flowing into your body. As you breathe out, imagine any negative energy or emotions leaving your body.

• Lie down and place your Shungite on your throat chakra. Close your eyes and imagine the energy of the Shungite flowing into your throat chakra, helping to clear any blockages and promote clear communication.

6. WEAR your Shungite

• Wear Shungite jewellery like a necklace, bracelet or ring to keep its healing energy with you throughout the day.
• Insert a tumbled stone to your pocket, bra or a simple pouch and wear throughout the day.

Crystal Care

• Direct sunlight may cause Shungite to fade. The colour change will not affect the energy of your crystal. If you prefer to avoid colour change, place your stone in indirect or dappled light.
• It is soft and may easily be scratched by softer crystals.
• To clean away dirt or dust, wipe with a cloth dampened with water.
