SMUDGING

Smudging is an ancient ritual used to cleanse a person, place or objects of negative energies, spirits or influences. According to ancient knowledge, all plants possess a sacred transcendental spirit and smudging with smoke from dried herbs and plants providing a bridge to spirit. Cultures including Aboriginals, Native Americans, Balinese, Druids, Chinese, Maoris, Mayans and Zulus use smudging in ceremonies.

The ritual of smudging with smoke can be used for cleansing or blessing - e.g. welcoming in the new day, or cleansing the body, home or workplace. Native American cultures traditionally used smudge sticks in spiritual ceremonies to remove negative energies and spirits. Legend has it that negative energies attach themselves to the smoke and leave, making way for good and helpful spirits.

The burning of sage with positive intent - verbally or mentally, can be done as often as you like to purify your surroundings at home or work.

NB: Not all smudge is the same. Purity, integrity and sustainability matters.
