Nuummite is a rare metamorphic rock estimated to be around 3 billion years old making it the oldest mineral ever discovered. Named after the region where it was found - Nuuk in Greenland, it is composed of the amphibole minerals gedrite and anthophyllite, with lesser amounts of pyrite, pyrrhotine and chalcopyrite. It is a dark-colored gemstone that ranges from black to dark grey with flashes of yellow.
