Lepidolite gets its beautiful pink, lilac, and deep purple tones from trace amounts of manganese. The more manganese present, the richer and darker the colour becomes. Lighter shades of Lepidolite contain a higher concentration of mica, while the deeper purple and red varieties indicate a stronger manganese content.
