Formed over 3 billion years ago, Nuummite is a rare stone. It occurs mostly in black and sometimes brown opaque crystals with sparkling iridescent flashes throughout (similar to Labradorite). Specimens show flashes of labradorescence in a variety of gold, copper, orange, blue, silver, green, purple, and violet colours - with gold being the most common reflected color. Due to its glossy lutre and iridescent nature, it is sought after by dealers, collectors and those interested in the esoteric qualities of minerals and gemstones.
Nuummite was first found in the Nuukk region of Greenland, and specimens can only be mined a few months of the year when the ground isn't frozen. Specimens from Greenland predominantly include golden, blue and red (rare) Anthophyllite needle-like crystals. Nuummite has also been found in Canada, Finland, the USA and a variant from Africa.
Nuummite has a very strong and grounding Earth energy. Known as the 'Magician's or Sorceress stone', it is a great stone to use for connecting with nature. It is the stone for shamanic journeying and releasing deep karma and helps deal with and clear blockages from past experiences that keep one from moving forward.
