Dragon Blood Jasper, also known as “Dragon Bloodstone” or “Dragon’s Blood Jasper,” is a striking gemstone primarily found in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, with additional deposits in South Africa and Mexico. Composition: Green from Epidote; red from Hematite (iron oxide).
It is characterised by its vibrant and dramatic appearance, typically displaying a deep forest-green to olive-green matrix interspersed with vivid splashes, veins, and patches of rich crimson, burgundy, or rust-red. Unlike the speckled or droplet-like pattern of traditional Bloodstone, Dragon Blood Jasper often features bold, swirling, or marbled combinations of red and green, creating an almost reptilian or landscape-like aesthetic that evokes its mythical namesake.
