Metal Properties & Attributes
Across cultures and traditions, metals have been associated with divine power, healing, strength, and transformation. The connect the grounding esssence of earth’s core energy with the divine energies of the cosmic realm and human intention—amplifying both stability and higher consciousness.
Metals remind us of resilience and purity: gold’s brilliance, silver’s reflective calm, stainless steel’s endurance, titanium’s protective strength, and platinum’s rare, refined energy. Each offers unique vibrations to harmonize with your energy field and to complement crystals in jewellery and healing practice.
A note on hallmarks, they're like a jewellery passport, they tell you where a piece came from and its content.
GOLD
9ct, 14ct, 15ct, 18ct and 22ct Gold are all alloys of pure Gold (for the math lovers 9ct is 9 parts out of 24), with a mix or other metals like Silver, Copper or Zinc. - sometimes small percentages of other metals can also be used.
- 9ct Gold (37.5% gold): The workhorse of gold jewellery! It’s tough, more affordable, and great for everyday wear.
- 12ct Gold (50% gold): Not as common, but it’s a nice middle ground between 9ct and higher carats.
- 14ct Gold (58.3% gold): A warmer golden colour and solid durability.
- 15ct Gold (62.5% gold): The sweet spot of vintage gold. Discontinued in jewellery design the 1930's so it's rare, beautiful, and strong enough to stand the test of time.
- 18ct Gold (75% gold): More prone to scratching. Basically, the Goldilocks of gold - just right.
The percentages of the three main metals, Gold, Silver, and Copper, will effect the colour of the gold. For example more Copper content creates Rose Gold, and more Silver content creates White Gold. Though, White Gold is also sold as a base metal with Rhodium plating.
Hallmarking – It can vary by maker and country of origin.
- 9ct Gold usually hallmarked (stamped) with “375", some makers also hallmark with 9k, 9kt, and 9ct.
- 15ct Gold is usually hallmarked with "15" and ".625".

SILVER
Sterling Silver is an alloy of pure silver. The percentage of Silver is 92.5%, so it also contains 7.5% of other metals - usually copper.
Hallmarking – Sterling Silver is usually hallmarked (stamped) with “925”. Note: not all countries have to hallmark by law, and some countries will hallmark base metal plated items. It's always best to purchase precious metal items from a reputable supplier.

When your Silver tarnishes, it will usually clean up with a Silver Polishing Cloth. To protect your Silver Jewellery, or storing in an airtight container, anti-tarnish bag or cloth bag when not in use.
STAINLESS STEEL
Stainless Steel is a steel alloy, mostly containling Iron, and a small percentage of Chromium and other metals. Stainless Steel is corrosion resistant, but can eventually corrode from years of exposure to very salty water (like the titanic). Surgical Steel or 316 stainless is the most corrosion resistant form and usually used for medical applications.
